Your Railway Guide | July 20, 2025
In a significant update for railway passengers, the Indian Railways has announced the cancellation and diversion of several key trains operating from Delhi Sarai Rohilla Railway Station between July 20 and July 28, 2025. The disruptions are due to non-interlocking work being undertaken to install a new Electronic Interlocking Panel, aimed at enhancing operational safety and efficiency.
Why Interlocking Work Is Happening
According to North Western Railway CPRO Shashi Kiran, the upgrade is a part of long-term infrastructure modernization to make train operations more technologically advanced and secure. The non-interlocking process, while essential, will temporarily impact passengers traveling to and from Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and other regions via Sarai Rohilla.

Partially Cancelled & Diverted Trains
Railway authorities have also confirmed partial cancellations and route diversions to minimize inconvenience. Some trains will terminate before reaching their destination or resume from intermediate stations. Alternate routes are being explored to ensure limited disruption.
According to railway officials, more than 70 train services (both up and down) are expected to be affected during this period.
Advice for Passengers
Passengers planning travel during this time are strongly advised to:
- Check live train status on the Indian Railways official website
- Contact the 139 helpline
- Visit their nearest railway station for real-time updates
If possible, the Railways suggests postponing travel plans during the affected dates or opting for alternative trains/routes.
Why This Matters
Though temporary, these disruptions affect thousands of daily commuters and long-distance travelers, especially those bound for Rajasthan and Maharashtra. The modernization project underscores Indian Railways’ push for digital signal safety systems and efficient rail operations, even if it means short-term inconvenience for long-term benefits.
