What happens when you have no confirmed reservation, an evening travel plan suddenly appears, and the only option is to take a General Class ticket on a long-distance Sampark Kranti Express?
That was exactly my situation on 12 August 2026.
I had to travel from Delhi Cantt to Alwar, but I did not have a confirmed reservation. Instead of cancelling the plan, I decided to take a chance. I purchased a General Class ticket for just ₹85 and headed to Delhi Cantt station to board 12463 Rajasthan Sampark Kranti Express.
I expected the usual General Class experience crowding, difficulty finding a seat and a stressful journey.
But what happened next was quite the opposite.
The train arrived at Delhi Cantt at around 9:55 PM, a little later than its scheduled 9:40 PM arrival. After stopping for only about two minutes, it departed for Alwar.
And then came the biggest surprise.
The General Class coach was not heavily crowded. In fact, I found the seating availability surprisingly good.
Even more interesting was the train’s route. Between Delhi Cantt and Alwar, Rajasthan Sampark Kranti Express has no scheduled intermediate stop, meaning it skips several major stations, including Gurugram, Rewari and Khairthal.
For a passenger making a short, unplanned journey, this combination was almost ideal: ₹85 fare, a fast run, very few stoppages and at least on my journey comfortable General Class availability.
So, how was the actual journey?
Here is my complete short journey review of 12463 Rajasthan Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi Cantt to Alwar.
Waiting at Delhi Cantt
According to the timetable, Rajasthan Sampark Kranti Express is scheduled to arrive at Delhi Cantt at around 9:40 PM. I was already at the station waiting for the train.
The train arrived at approximately 9:55 PM. After a short halt of around two minutes, it departed towards Alwar.
For me, this was the beginning of an unexpectedly comfortable General Class journey.
The biggest surprise: General Class availability

The best part of my journey was the passenger load.
Despite being a long-distance express, the General Class coach had relatively fewer passengers during my journey. I was able to board without much difficulty and found good seating availability.
This was particularly surprising because travelling in General Class on a long-distance express can often mean dealing with heavy crowds.
The limited number of stoppages on this section may be one reason why the coach did not experience heavy boarding during my journey.
Of course, this was my experience on 12 August 2026, and passenger numbers can vary considerably from one day to another.
No intermediate halt between Delhi Cantt and Alwar
One of the most interesting features of this journey is the train’s stoppage pattern.
After leaving Delhi Cantt, the train runs towards Alwar without a scheduled intermediate halt.
That means passengers travelling to Alwar can avoid stops at several important stations along the route, including Gurugram, Rewari and Khairthal.
For a short-distance passenger, this makes Rajasthan Sampark Kranti particularly interesting.
Instead of taking a train that stops repeatedly along the way, you can remain on board and make a relatively quick journey towards Alwar.
My experience on the train
Overall, I found the train to be clean, fast and comfortable during my journey.
The General Class seating availability was the biggest positive for me. Since I had no reservation, simply finding a comfortable place to sit made a significant difference.
The train also maintained a good pace, and the short halt at Delhi Cantt meant that it did not spend much time at the station.
For an unplanned journey, I could not ask for much more.
Fare: Just ₹85
The fare was another major advantage.
My General Class ticket from Delhi Cantt to Alwar cost ₹85.
Considering the distance, the speed of the train and the limited number of stoppages, I found the fare to be excellent value for money.
For passengers who need to travel at short notice and cannot secure a reservation, this makes the train worth considering.
Final verdict
My experience on 12463 Rajasthan Sampark Kranti Express was much better than I had expected.
I boarded the train with no reservation and only an ₹85 General Class ticket. I was expecting a difficult journey, but instead found good seating availability, a relatively clean coach and a fast run towards Alwar.
The biggest attraction for me was the combination of low fare and zero scheduled intermediate stops between Delhi Cantt and Alwar.
Of course, my experience should not be taken as a guarantee that the General Class coach will always be empty or that the train will always run exactly on time. Crowd levels and punctuality can vary.
But based on my journey on 12 August 2026, Rajasthan Sampark Kranti Express gave me a surprisingly good General Class experience.
Overall rating: 4.5/5
₹85 + no reservation + a fast non-stop run to Alwar = a surprisingly good short journey.
