Bikaner (Rajasthan)-22 May 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate 103 redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) on May 22, 2025, via video conferencing. The event will take place in Bikaner, Rajasthan, and will showcase India’s commitment to modernizing railway infrastructure while preserving regional heritage.
These 103 stations, spanning 86 districts across 18 States and Union Territories, have been redeveloped at a total cost of over ₹1,100 crore. The Amrit Bharat Scheme aims to transform more than 1,300 stations across the country into world-class travel hubs, with improved passenger amenities, modern architecture, and regionally inspired design elements.
Culturally-Inspired Architecture Across India
Some key examples include:
- Deshnoke Station, Rajasthan: Built in temple-style architecture to reflect the sacred Karni Mata Temple, with arches and columns symbolizing spiritual heritage.
- Begumpet Station, Telangana: Designed with motifs from the Kakatiya dynasty.
- Thawe Station, Bihar: Adorned with Madhubani paintings and murals of Maa Thawewali, reflecting the temple’s importance as a Shakti Peetha.
- Dakor Station, Gujarat: Inspired by Ranchhodrai Ji Maharaj, a revered form of Lord Krishna.
Major Stations Inaugurated in Karnataka
Five redeveloped stations from Karnataka will be inaugurated, with the following project costs:
- Gadag – ₹23.24 crore
- Dharwad – ₹17.1 crore
- Bagalkot – ₹16.06 crore
- Munirabad – ₹18.40 crore
- Gokak – ₹16.98 crore
These stations feature upgraded waiting areas, escalators, digital signage, energy-efficient designs, and enhanced accessibility features.
Inauguration of New Train and Other Projects
PM Modi will also:
- Inaugurate the Bikaner–Mumbai Express (Train No. 21903) from Deshnoke Station.
- Lay the foundation stone for the Churu–Sadulpur rail line (58 km).
- Dedicate electrified rail lines to the nation:
- Suratgarh–Phalodi (336 km)
- Phulera–Degana (109 km)
- Udaipur–Himmatnagar (210 km)
- Phalodi–Jaisalmer (157 km)
- Samdari–Barmer (129 km)
In addition to rail projects, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate road infrastructure, medical education, and solar power projects, signaling an integrated push for development in multiple sectors.
