Srinagar–Jammu Tawi Vande Bharat Express Timetable Officially Released

Linked with New Delhi–Jammu Rajdhani Express, boosting Kashmir’s rail connectivity

In a major development for Jammu & Kashmir’s rail network, the Ministry of Railways has officially released the time table for the Srinagar–Jammu Tawi Vande Bharat Express, marking a historic step in connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country via a high-speed, semi-bullet train service.

According to the Railway Board order dated June 4, 2025, four train numbers—26401/26402 and 26403/26404—will operate on the route, with services running daily except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, depending on direction.

Srinagar–Jammu Tawi Vande Bharat Express Official Timetable Highlights:

From Srinagar to Jammu Tawi (Train No. 26402 & 26404):

  • Departure from Srinagar at 14:00 hrs (Train 26402) & 08:00 hrs (Train 26404)
  • Key halts: Banihal, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra
  • Arrival at Jammu Tawi by 18:50 hrs and 12:40 hrs respectively

From Jammu Tawi to Srinagar (Train No. 26401 & 26403):

  • Departure from Jammu Tawi at 06:20 hrs (Train 26401) & 13:20 hrs (Train 26403)
  • Key halts: Katra, Banihal
  • Arrival at Srinagar by 11:10 hrs and 18:00 hrs respectively

These new Vande Bharat services are strategically linked with the New Delhi–Jammu Tawi Rajdhani Express (12425/12426) to provide seamless connectivity for passengers traveling between Delhi and the Kashmir Valley.

Part of USBRL Megaproject

This launch is part of the larger Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, which has already delivered engineering marvels like the Chenab Bridge and Anji Khad Bridge. The new timetable ensures better coordination for onward and return journeys between key pilgrimage and tourist spots in Jammu and Kashmir.

Inaugural Run on June 6

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the first Srinagar Katra Vande Bharat Express train on June 6, 2025, from Katra. This marks not only a transportation milestone but also a symbolic message of connectivity and development in the region.
